Historic City Centre

TorunTorun is in central Poland on the banks of the River Wisla, A prominent trade centre in the Middle Ages, much of the early architecture has been preserved. Torun is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts tourists and academics from across the world. As an educational and cultural centre, it has a status similar to that of Oxford or Bath in the UK.

The old town centre is about a mile across, picturesque narrow streets, a walkway along the riverside, there are plenty of places to spend the whole day visiting, but it’s also relaxing, clean, easy going, generally not the hustle bustle you get at larger tourist attractions, except during special holidays.

Toruń is also famous for Copernicus, gingerbread and speedway.

Activities / Things to See & Do in Toruń

Toruń is great for relaxing, you will find a large number of cafes and restaurants walking around the old city centre, as well as museums, art galleries, historic architecture, churches, an ethnographic museum, a planetrium and the riverside along the Wisla. Further away from the city centre there are 19th century fortresses you can visit, botanical gardens, parks and a large university campus.

Events include speedway at Motoarena, a good nightlife and the Toffifest and Camerimage film festivals.
